The company Uljanowski Awtomobilny Zavod (UAZ) is a Russian manufacturer of commercial vehicles and light trucks, which are produced in Uljanowks on the Volga. The company, founded in 1941, is best known for its robust military vehicles. After the Second World War, military vehicles, private vehicles and vans were produced, that were also used in police and fire departments and in agricultural use. Since the end of the Soviet Union, UAZ tries to find connection to the modern automotive technology. Known models are the UAZ Hunter, UAZ 452, and as a new development of UAZ Patriot.
