Seres
Seres, formerly known as SF Motors, Chongqing Jinkang New Energy Automobile, is a subsidiary of the Chinese concern Chongqing Sokon Industry Group. Based in Santa Clara, California, the company was founded in 2016 and opened its Silicon Valley headquarters the following year. Production focuses on the manufacture of electric vehicles and related spare parts. Seres currently has seven R&D centers in Germany, China, Japan and the USA. In addition to the facility in Japan, another center in Michigan, USA, was planned to be the preferred starting point. The main task of the R&D centers is to work on the following research areas: vehicle technology, e-powertrain technology, battery technology, intelligent drive systems and lightweight construction. As a first vehicle, Seres wanted to bring the compact SUV SF5, whose model was last updated in 2021, to the US and Chinese markets. Although these plans were thwarted on the US market, far different, positive signals are coming from China. At the beginning of 2021 it was announced that Seres will work with Huawei in the future.
